Background:

I have recently moved back to Aberystwyth after 20 years away. During this time I have worked abroad, in a London business school and various charitable organisations as a counsellor and psychotherapist.

Professional training and experience:

Originally trained in psychodynamic counselling, with an emphasis on unconscious processes and early childhood experiences, I have become more integrative over time. I use a combination of approaches, including solution focussed techniques, psychodynamic therapy, person centred counselling, coaching and CBT techniques, tailor made to what works for you.

Working style:

I am friendly and relatable, believing that the relationship between therapist and client is fundamental to healing and positive change. I am passionate about working collaboratively, offering emotional support and helping you gain more control of your life. I will not judge you or tell you what to do. Instead I will listen, reflect back and ask questions, helping you to achieve greater clarity, understanding and empowering you to overcome the difficulties you are facing.

Areas of interest:

I have experience of working with a wide range of issues but having recently become a mother, I have a particular interest in working with women (and men) who are struggling with issues surrounding pregnancy, childbirth and postnatal depression. It can be such a wonderful yet stressful time with so many changes and pressures and I feel it is so important to have a safe space to talk and get the support you need.

Ethics:

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and I abide by their strict code of ethics. This ensures the highest standards of confidentiality and professional practice are in place.

Professional Qualifications:

Certificate in CBT skills (The Grove practice, London 2016)
